Sun, sand, and water enthusiasts will love Erieau Beach! Relax on the sandy shore or stroll the Erieau pier to the lighthouse, surrounded by Lake Erie. The beach offers parking, wheelchair-accessible mats, an inclusive playground, volleyball, changing areas, and BBQs.

Erieau Beach is ideal for family fun or a romantic shoreline walk. Clean and well-maintained, it’s a treasure we ask all visitors to respect. Add excitement by renting boats or water sports gear from local shops.

After your beach visit, enjoy a meal or drink at one of Erieau’s charming eateries. Extend your stay at the Erie-O Motel, located on Rondeau Bay’s waterfront and less than five minutes from the beach. Erieau offers swimming, boating, fishing, and snorkeling opportunities, making it a destination you’ll want to revisit.

Nearby, Rondeau Provincial Park features a spectacular 14-kilometer beach, perfect for exploring. Stay at the Erie-O Motel for easy access to this natural wonder and Erieau’s many attractions.

Kayaking and Watersports
While staying at the Erie-O Motel & Marina, you’ll see plenty of activity on Rondeau Bay and Lake Erie. Visitors enjoy kayaking, canoeing, paddleboarding, swimming, bodyboarding, and wakesurfing. During summer, children and students learn to sail through the Erieau Yacht Club’s programs.

Bring your own water sports gear! Guests can use our marina and boat ramp, but please note you are responsible for your equipment at all times.

While we don’t currently offer water sports rentals, nearby Bayside Camp rents kayaks, canoes, and pedal boats. The Erieau Wakeboard and Watersports School also offers rentals and lessons.

Bird Watching
Rondeau Park is a bird-watching haven during the spring and fall migrations. With over 300 bird species recorded—130 of which breed in the park—it’s a must-visit for birding enthusiasts. If you love hiking, the Erie-O Motel is your perfect base - with over 226 km of recreational trails across Chatham-Kent. Erieau and its surrounding areas boast many walking, hiking, and biking trails, offering endless opportunities to explore this scenic region.

In the heart of Erieau, you’ll find a 1km treed and asphalt trail that runs through town, connecting to the Erie Shore Trail, Erieau Marsh Trail, and McGeachy Pond Trail. This lovely path features benches, gardens, and a war memorial, making it ideal for a stroll, jog, or bike ride.

The Erieau Marsh Trail, a favorite for nature lovers, winds along Rondeau Bay, offering stunning views and excellent bird-watching opportunities.

Just a short distance away, Rondeau Provincial Park features six trails spanning over 30km of diverse scenery. From the short Black Oak Trail (1.4km) to the longer Harrison Trail (8km one way), each trail provides a unique experience for hikers.

Boaters are always welcome at the Erie-O Motel and Marina. Our private marina features a boat ramp and 20 slips. Stay overnight in one of our comfortable motel or cottage rental suites before heading back to Lake Erie or Rondeau Bay.

Conveniently located on Rondeau Bay, our marina offers direct access to the bay and quick entry to Lake Erie. Amenities include public showers, restrooms, and a fish cleaning station for those combining boating with fishing.

Rondeau Provincial Park
Rondeau Provincial Park, established in 1894, is the second oldest provincial park in Ontario and is open year-round, offering activities and events for all ages.

Home to Canada’s largest Carolinian forest, Rondeau features over 11 kilometres of sandy beaches, ideal for sunbathing, swimming, and water activities. Its waters are perfect for anglers and boaters, while the park’s untouched marshes provide a haven for wildlife.

The park has over 38.5 km of trails, including 6 hiking and 3 biking trails, suitable for all skill levels. In winter, enjoy ice fishing, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, hiking, and birdwatching.

Rondeau is renowned for birdwatching, with over 300 species spotted throughout the year. It is a key stop for migrating birds, attracting birders during the annual “Festival of Flight” in spring.

Surrounded by Lake Erie and Rondeau Bay, Rondeau is an angler’s paradise. Popular catches include salmon, walleye, perch, and largemouth bass. The warm, vegetation-rich waters also offer excellent fishing for sunfish, crappie, catfish, and pike. Waterfowl hunting is available from mid-September to mid-December, regulated by the Rondeau Bay Waterfowlers Association.
